How do I get my website to the top of Google – 2012 style?
It’s always been the holy grail. How do I get my website to the top of the Google rankings? The solutions always seemed within reach – use Search Engine Optimisation, Google Ad-words, create keyword-rich blogs, subscribe to local directories etc. but you know, they never quite materialised the way you envisaged.
In some cases it proved too costly. In others there was too much clutter on the screen. And often, it simply didn’t appear – or it appeared one day and gone the next. Mostly, it was becoming increasingly hard to muscle out the big boys of the screen – Amazon, YouTube etc.
But people are still trying to attain this goal. So what to do? Well, I say follow an old adage – after all, old adages are not old adages for nothing. So here’s an old adage – if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!
Join who, you might ask?
Join Amazon. Join Youtube.
Think about it. Who does Google trust most for their content? Reputable companies, that’s who. And who are the most reputable companies on the web? Companies like Amazon and YouTube, that’s who. Of course, Google even owns YouTube.
And that’s what some of my clients have done. They have used those platforms to post their blogs. They created content-rich articles to publicise their products and services, published them onto Amazon and YouTube and watched how they took advantage of the beautiful relationship that Google has with these companies – and watched how, within days, their blogs – rich with content and links to their website, started appearing on the front page of Google.
